PEARL
Hotel in Boulder
Designed with Modellus Novus
The broad grass plains and dramatically raked mountains that define the geography of Boulder, Colorado were once submerged by a vast interior seaway full of delicate plant life, prehistoric birds and fish, gold and oil. For Pearl, a ground-up boutique hospitality project nestled into this Western landscape, inspiration is embedded in the layered detail of the land’s sedimentary past. Serene and luminescent, our design is sourced from the elements that preceded it, harnessing its place—like the sea—between earth and sky. This project located in Boulder, Colorado came to MN with a predesigned massing that we could alter to a certain extent. For the project we were inspired by the geological history of Colorado, how it used to be an inner sea and was formed of sand, silt and tides. The program was quite complex as it has both hotel, and restaurant concepts embedded in one building. There would be 2 restaurants, a speakeasy, hotel lobby, library and entrance to Chef’s counter all on the ground floor level. As one moves to the second floor the program is exclusively hotel rooms and spa. The third floor is both hotel rooms and public facing as the chef’s counter is located on the third floor.
